MIDDLETON, Wis. — The Madison area has its fair share of public art and art museums, but very few, if any, have the type of entertainment offered by the upcoming Immersive Van Gogh installation.

Scheduled to open Nov. 24 at the Greenway Station Shopping Center located on Deming Way in Middleton, Immersive Van Gogh features large-scale projections of van Gogh’s various works, soundtracked by music from Italian multimedia composer Luca Longobardi. More than 50 projectors will work in tandem to cover the walls of the venue with van Gogh’s signature brushstrokes and colors.

“While van Gogh’s art lived in obscurity throughout his life, his artwork has transcended time and generations because of its unique emotive capabilities and touching technique,” Immersive Van Gogh creator Massimiliano Siccardi said in a news release. “Time and again, Luca Longobardi and I are thrilled to transform another space into a living legacy of van Gogh’s art.”

The touring exhibit launched in North America in 2020 and has sold more than 5 million tickets since then, according to a news release.

A similar immersive experience highlighting van Gogh’s work — “Beyond Van Gogh: An Immersive Experience” — opened in Milwaukee last spring, though the installation coming to Madison claims to be the first of its kind.

Tickets for the Madison event are available at starting at $39.99. The event runs through Jan. 8, 2023.
